What is an ISA?

Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs) were launched by the government to encourage people to save for the future. They are 'wrappers' in which you can hold either a traditional savings account (Cash ISA) or stock market-based investments (Stocks and Shares ISA).

Any interest earned on savings or any capital gains made on investments held within an ISA are tax free.
