I'm a solicitor wishing to inform you of a bereavement, what do I do?

If you are informing us of a client's bereavement, please post your letter of notification together with the appropriate documentation to:

Royal Bank of Scotland Bereavement Service Team
Waterside Court
Western Avenue
Chatham Maritime

The documentation you should include is:

  • The full name of the deceased customer
  • Your full company name, address and contact telephone number
  • The original Death Certificate* or Coroner's Interim Certificate (England & Wales only) or Abbreviated Extract (Scotland only)
  • A photocopy of the will, if you know the deceased has left one
  • The name and address of the deceased's next of kin (if no one has been appointed as executor)

*If you are unable to obtain a Death Certificate or only have a copy of the Death Certificate, please contact our Bereavement Service Team so that we can advise how to proceed.

We will then write to you confirming the way forward in relation to the deceased's Royal Bank of Scotland accounts and banking arrangements.
